Review Eight: Fahrenheit 451

Yeah, I'm kinda strapped for ideas at this point. We've already made this the focal point in class, so I'm just going to say a few words about it relating back to the assignment.

Guy Montag is a fireman who sets fires to homes containg books, which are now illegal. Montag has a natural human sense of curiousity and starts to read books, hoping to gain some lost knowledge from them. However, his superior discovers what he's been doing, creating a chain of events ending with Montag on the road with intellectual hobos.

Bradbury wrote Fahrenheit to envision a world without books. This vision was inspired by stories of book - burnings throughout history, such as those during the Holocaust. The story reflected society's increasing need to censor "unworthy" or "inept" materials.

Fahrenheit also relates back to one of the central topics, government. The government in Fahrenheit attempts to censor all forms of media and control the people by discouraging individuality.

There ya go, that's another blog in the bank. I honestly put all of my blogging effort into the last blog about Portal 2. Besides, we're covering this enough in class. Moving On!!!
